FIDE-rated Chess Tournaments in Malaysia

Apr 2, 2017 | | Say something

Every year, there are 2 important and regular International FIDE rated tournaments in Malaysia. The first one is the Malaysia Open and the 2nd one is the Selangor Open. The Malaysia Open is part of the Merdeka Chess Festival happening in the Month of August or September. The Selangor Open is normally scheduled around the Labour Day, 1st May.

This year’s Selangor Open is scheduled from 27th April to 1st May. It is already in the 44th edition since the first edition in 1974.

You can get the full detail from the Chess Association of Selangor’s website

Other tournaments info might be available from the Malaysia Chess Federation website http://malaysiachess.com/blog.php?p=41

The Selangor Open is very meaningful to me as I obtained by FIDE rating after playing 2 tournaments. I also played in the 43th edition last year and hopefully, I will be able to play again this year.
